Craine Street
Craine Street is a short street of the Riverbank Terrace neighborhood in Pinehurst, near the Burlington line, running about 470 feet south from Duncan Drive across Hamilton Avenue to Wildcrest Avenue. It is one of the cross streets of the plan "Riverbank Terrace, Billerica, Mass., May 1911," drawn by C. A. Thayer, engineer, and recorded on August 17, 1911 (Plan Book 29, Plan 25). On that plan "Craine Street" starts at the corner where River Road, now the street Riverbank Terrace, meets Washington Avenue, now Duncan Drive, and runs south between blocks of 25-foot house lots to Wildwood Avenue, now Wildcrest Avenue, crossing Hamilton Avenue on the way. The plan does not explain the name, and its origin was not found.
Like most of the Riverbank Terrace cross streets, Craine Street stayed undeveloped for decades. It does not appear in the street directories, and the town reports record no work on it and no vote accepting it. Its single house, on lots 1 to 4 of block 22 of the 1911 plan, dates by the assessors from about 1983.
